UPC plans events for students by students.
We plan 150+ events each year for free or little cost to the K-State community.
The Union Program Council (UPC) has served as the Union’s source of entertainment since 1956. UPC enhances the K-State experience with more than 150 cultural, recreational and educational programs each year. Partnering with registered student organizations, university departments and local businesses, UPC travels across campus and the community to provide diverse experiences to K-State and its surrounding area.
UPC also offers student members many opportunities to be creative and develop leadership skills through program coordination. The various committees of UPC produce and promote comedy, film screenings, art shows, lectures, concerts and other events. UPC is always accepting new members. Stop by the next meeting and get involved in premier campus programming.
Our Mission
The purpose of the Union Program Council shall be to provide educational, cultural and social experiences by students for students and the K-State community. The organization seeks to develop leaders and enhance the quality of student life through inclusive programming. With a goal of fulfilling the mission of the university, UPC aims to help establish an engaging campus life for students throughout their college experience. Through the prudent use of student privilege fees, UPC serves as a resource to entertain, excite and educate the university and community.
How WE're structured
UPC is comprised of Officers and Co-chairs, constituting the Executive Board. Co-chairs plan events for students ranging in purpose and scope. Co-chairs are divided into 9 committees:
Multicultural exposes the campus to diversity through films, slam poets, entertainment, lectures and discussions.
Music programs live music including major concerts, coffee house performances, karaoke nights, and open mic nights.
Exec (President, VP of Operations, and VP of Membership)
After Hours organizes substance-free entertainment and activities every Friday night including bingo nights, ice skating, and small-scale comedians.
Arts coordinates pop-up art galleries, the Student Photography Contest, dinner theaters and other art-related programs.
Campus Entertainment focuses on researching, planning and executing a large event each semester according to the Campus Entertainment Fund process.
Community finds ways to get the community involved with events as well as plans large, annual programs, including the Activities Carnival, Children’s Carnival, and Spring Egg Hunt.
Committee members are people who attend our All Meetings, volunteer at our events, etc. but are not Co-chairs on the Executive Board.
